“Knerr and his boyhood friend Arthur “Spud” Melin founded Wham-O n Pasadena in 1948. Later the company moved to its current home in Emeryville. According to the LA Times obituary, the best friends named the company after the sound their first product, a slingshot, made when it hit its target.”
Wham-O’s iconic products include the Frisbee, Hula-Hoops, Super Ball and million more things that provided provide immense entertainment to all of us.
